SiSt. Anthony's grass
Travel distance from Het Willemshuis: 4 km.

The Sint Anthoniegorzen is a 91-hectare nature reserve managed by Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch Forestry Commission) and a former tidal marsh. The area consists of grasslands and is an important resting place for migratory birds. Birds: Black-tailed godwit, redshank, lapwing, partridge, shoveler, garganey, and large groups of barnacle geese. The area can be easily viewed from a covered birdwatching hut at the end of Fortweg. Hellgate plates
Travel distance from Het Willemshuis: 11 km.

Between Krammer-Volkerak and Haringvliet lies the Hellegat-Ventjager Bird Boulevard. Here, birdwatchers can enjoy the rich bird life of the Hellegatsplaten and Ventjagersplaten all year round. The bird boulevard consists of four birdwatching huts. Spoonbills, great white egrets, sea eagles, and ospreys (especially during migration) are regularly spotted here. Tiengemeten
Travel distance from Het Willemshuis: 18 km.

A former agricultural area has been transformed into a new nature reserve where nature has been given free rein and a bird paradise has been created. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese stay here, such as pintails, shelducks, and teals, but also smews and mergansers. Waders such as snipes and golden plovers are also present. Water pipits and grey wagtails search for food along the creeks. The hen harrier hunts above the polders. Water rails, black-tailed godwits, and bearded reedlings are also seen, while kingfishers skim low over the water all year round. Go to the information page. Strijensas
Travel distance from Het Willemshuis: 28 km.

The Oeverlanden van Strijensas is home to many water birds. You can see various species of ducks, such as tufted ducks, shovelers, shelducks, teals, gadwalls, and goldeneyes. In the cold months, great white egrets forage in shallow water, while spoonbills scurry around in the summer. After the frost, groups of avocets and black-tailed godwits stand out, sometimes in spectacular flocks. Other waders include green sandpipers, common sandpipers, redshanks, and oystercatchers. Biesbosch

The Biesbosch is a bird hotspot par excellence. All year round, all kinds of species come and go here, and you even have a chance of seeing a white-tailed eagle or osprey.
